I’ve always wanted to take a gap year. I remember planning out everything I could possibly do, then realising how much money I had saved up and then trying to fit it all in. I was ecstatic! Nothing would stop me…or so I thought. I still can’t quite believe how my years at sixth form came to an end – the covid-19 pandemic. I had saved up more than £15k to go travelling and to live out my gap year plans, but no. The universe had other plans. In April, I decided to keep working to make some more money than I could use next year in 2021. After all, I’m hoping that life will have adapted enough by then. September came, and all my friends had gone off to uni or gotten full-time jobs or apprenticeships. I thought that I can’t keep sitting around the house all day and just going to work. That’s not life. Things have opened up, just with safety precautions. So, I made a list.
Here, on this list, I have written down an abundance of activities that I can do and hope to achieve by the end of my gap year. Some are covid dependant, so we will have to see what next year is like.
My gap year list:
-Go skydiving.
-Go interrailing and visit at least 6 new countries.
-Be an Au Pair.
-Get a TEFL certificate.
-Do a Falconry experience.
-Go zip-lining.
-Go horseriding.
-Go paintballing.
-Go canoeing.
-Watch the sunrise.
-Volunteer /Workaway.
-Travel solo.
-Join something ie. Pole, rollerskating.
-Go to a Christmas Market and get hot chocolate!
-Go to a music festival.
-Go to an outside/ drive-in cinema.
-GO SEE A WESTEND SHOW!
Now some of these, like going to a music festival, I doubt will happen in 2021 (please prove me wrong, I beg) so I won’t hold myself too accountable for that! It was just on my original list, and I’ve really wanted to always do it. Here’s to hoping.
