Benefits of Being a Freelancer
AD- This is a collaboration post with Day Translations. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The thought of becoming a freelancer can be terrifying for some, especially if you’ve never done it before. However, many benefits come with freelance work that often outweigh the negatives.
Benefits:
- Flexibility. This is a major benefit for most people as flexibility is always helpful. How many times have you wanted to do something spontanous and last minute, only to remember you have other commitments? I know that’s happened to me more times than I can count. However, with freelance work, you’re free to choose your own hours and days. This means you can schedule your work around your life – not the other way around!
- There’s no commute, which means that you will get lots of spare time in your day to do what you want. Having no commute can be good for lots of diffrent reasons, for instance, you’ll save money by not having to pay for petrol or a train ticket, you wont get delayed in anyway, you wont need to go out in bad weather conditions and so much more.
- You have the ability to travel the world. This is one of the best benefits, as with Freelancing, you can work from anywhere therefore you can travel anywhere! The ability to travel the world as a freelancer is an amazing opportunity as you can be paid to fund your travels and can constantly be inspired and learn from other cultures.
- There are lots of freelance jobs to choose from. With freelancing, the posibility of jobs to choose from are endless. You could be a translator, photographer, content writer, graphic designer – there are so many posibilities to find something to suit your skills!
- The opportunity to build and develop skills constantly. It’s no secret that being a freelancer, you will have to learn how to do things you never knew existed – but this is a good thing as you’ll be learning new skills and therefore developing yourself further.
- You get a choice of who to work with. If you don’t want to work with someone or a particular company for whatever reason – you don’t have to! This has many benefits, such as drastically improving your mental health and motivating you to work harder.
- It’s a more relaxed enviroment. I can think of so many times where the enviroment I was in was stressing me out, and how much better I would feel and work if I were at home, chances are you can too. With freelance work, you’ll be working in a more relaxed enviroment as you get the ability to chose where you work. This allows you to feel better within yourself and be more productive in the longrun.
The good thing with freelance work is that if you’re unsure if it’s for you, you can try and do it around your original job until you feel confident enough to do it full time. If any of the benefits in this post look good to you, I highly suggest you consider freelancing. Many freelancers say that it’s one of the best things they’ve ever done and that they will never go back.
