HM Gran Fiesta Review – Positives
My stay at HM Gran Fiesta was filled with positives. I stayed during the last week of March, which is during the off-season, which meant it felt very quiet a lot of the time, except during the buffet breakfast!
First of all, when you step into the hotel, it is very beautiful, spacious and cool – which is so nice when it’s very hot outside! As you need to pay a tourist tax on arrival, you can do this by card, which is useful. There are 3 lifts that you can use to go to your room, or just use the steps.
All rooms have an automatic keycard to use, which I love! The rooms are quite big and spacious, and all rooms have either a pool view or a sea view, with a balcony accompanied by some chairs. The beds are very, very comfortable, and there is also air-con in the rooms.
In the room, there is also a safe, a fridge with bottled water, cups, towels, hand soap, shampoo and body wash.
The bathroom is also very spacious, and the lights are nice. Additionally, there is the option to use either the handheld showerhead or the normal showerhead – which is very useful if you have curly hair like me.
Tip: If you need to withdraw money, don’t use any ATMs close by as they charge an expensive fee – one ATM a few metres from the hotel wanted to charge €7!
Every day, there is the option to have your bed made and have the cups inside your room replaced, which is a nice touch. You can of course put the door hanger on the door if you don’t want this option.
All of the staff that I interacted with in the hotel were always very nice and friendly and could speak English too.
I really liked that there were a lot of shops nearby HM Gran Fiesta, especially a Mercadona, which is a Spanish supermarket chain just about a 10-minute walk away – because the Spars can be a bit overpriced. There were also a few chain restaurants like Burger King and KFC nearby which were open until the early morning.
The buffet breakfast is definitely worth the price. It was certainly one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had due to the large amount of choice and quality of the food. There was a choice of hot drinks, such as coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, and cold drinks, such as fruit-infused water and juices.
In terms of food, there were freshly cooked pancakes, eggs, sausages, bread, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, and so much more! When compared to other breakfasts I’ve had at hotels for a similar price, I can confirm that this buffet breakfast at HM Gran Fiesta is definitely value for money!
I thought the location of HM Gran Fiesta was very good, especially in proximity to the airport. It was also right next to the beach, which is always fantastic!
Finally, the pools were very clean and big, with not many people using them, but this might change during the summer months. The indoor pool was probably the best one, as it was a bit too windy to use the infinity pool when I was visiting.
HM Gran Fiesta Review – Negatives
Although my stay at HM Gran Fiesta was fantastic, there were a few things that were a little bit annoying – but mostly not a fault of the hotel itself. For instance, I did find that the location was a little bit too far away from Palma city – and it was annoying that the bus only took cash (and only notes of less than €10) – at €2 each way, though this isn’t anything the hotel can fix.
Additionally, the pools were very cold outside – but this is a normal thing, especially for off-season months. It would’ve been good if they were heated, but it’s really not too much of an issue.
One thing that maybe could’ve been changed is that the rooftop is closed at night until late morning, and many people I know wanted to watch the sunrise. I understand why it’s closed at night – probably to stop any accidents from happening if someone is intoxicated, but I feel like it could be opened earlier in the morning.
I do really think that the glass in the room could’ve been changed to be more opaque or made into a wall – as it’s a bit awkward if you’re not sharing with your partner. As you can see from the photo…it’s pretty see-through!
In the evenings, there is also a buffet for dinner – which I didn’t have as I found that it was too expensive at €20 per person. The people that I know that did have it, though, didn’t think it was worth €20. Instead, it’s a better idea to just purchase a pizza from the bar. Lots of the food was also not halal, according to some of my friends who are Muslim – which I imagine can be very irritating.
I also feel like sometimes the general aspect of buffets can be a bit unsanitary – so it would’ve been nice if there were some measures put in place to help with this, such as holders for the tongs. However, everything looked very clean, and this is just mainly a “me” thing, and in no way reflects on the hygiene of HM Gran Fiesta as it all seemed very clean!
